Amid chaos, do you act decisively in the moment, or analyze the situation first seeking input from others? Do you foster teamwork, or do you work best independently?
Clarity into how you lead can help you elevate your communication, anticipate how you can best collaborate with others and identify key opportunities for growth and development. For example, you might be great at creative thinking and improvising along the way, but it’s vital for you to demonstrate how you decisively overcome challenges. Due to cognitive biases, everyone has to work a little harder to instill trust and confidence in the workplace – especially Black women. To help us grow as leaders, we brought in Nehemiah Stephens, a Lean Six Sigma-certified Regional Continuous Improvement Manager, to help us uncover our leadership styles.
We learned from Nehemiah that leadership can be energetic, process-oriented, strategic or empathetic. Thanks to his expertise, we are now able to collaborate with each other more efficiently, bring more structure to our shared workspace, and improve our communication. You may have all the academic training on paper, but winning teams have leaders who know their leadership style and inspire others. As leaders, our development is never truly done – there’s always room for improvement and personal growth. Thank you, Nehemiah, for setting us up to shake the table even more in 2024!
